energizer issue

yet another news item on freedom/democracy:
Lawmakers rush to blunt anti-gay church

Do you think these people should be allowed to hold such demonstrations?

these protests make me so mad--they are totally unrelated to the actual soldier that died. this group is so hell-bent on spreading their message that they don't care who they hurt. at first I agreed that this affront to the families of killed soldiers merited new laws, but after reading the article, I have to agree. However, I do think that there maybe could be police stationed to try to move the protests further away from the funeral. It's just awful that people would want to do that. Attack the issues, not unrelated people. How can you be so hateful and claim to be a Christian?

ugly people are everywhere.

Yes, they have the right to do what they're doing. Unfortunately, they lack the common sense to excercise those rights with at least a modicum of decency. There are better ways to make a point; one doesn't have to be hateful to do so.

I'll give you a direct quote from our pastor, "Those who carry signs at the funerals of people who have died . . . that say, 'God hates fags' know nothing of God, are far from Him, and are in danger of Hell themselves." Then he quoted the following verseLuke 6:37 "Do not judge and you will not be judged, do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

I firmly agree with that. Love is the most important thing of all and how does what these people are doing show love?

yes, they're ignorant and hateful. I pity them, because I'm sure they lead miserable lives with little love or joy.

since they are gaining some notoriety, I wonder if/how our society will punish them, despite their legal protection.
